I couldn’t agree more about the usage of a touch screen for any real work. I too go to a proper computer to type out a message, I use KDE Connect to send text messages, Touch screen is most certainly a step backward in device interface when doing “real” work. If I find myself browsing something on my phone that I want to read further, KDE Connect send to my computer as well. The phone is not a terribly useful advice. That said, I think that an Ubuntu Touch device may not be as “advanced” as an Android device but since an Android device is so far behind the Linux Desktop, I have so very few expectations. What I want is, Web Browsing, Telegram, SMS, Bank Application, Syncthing and I am good. Most of the other stuff out there is garbage anyway… in my opinion.
I am looking forward to the Atari Console. Though, I would be MUCH more interested if it was running openSUSE Tumbleweed. I suppose that it could be fixed as such but I would still like the custom Atari interface, maybe a snap? I would personally LOVE a device like this to be my living room PC for Retro games, streaming media, Steam games and so forth. I think it is very promising.
I am torn on the user metrics. On one side, I think it is very interesting to know what hardware is being used. I think I would be okay with openSUSE or any other distro asking for that information if it would help out the greater good but at the same time, I also like that they DON’T ask me for that information. is there anyway to “have my cake and eat it too on this?”
